Between Balance and Imbalance
Advanced online workshop for Feldenkrais Practitioners
Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19
The sense of balance is not a sense in the usual sense of the word, but rather a complex integration mechanism that operates continuously in the background throughout all our activity. It develops throughout childhood as part of and a result of motor development, functioning as a crucial system for regulation, orientation, and integration.
If observed more deeply, it can be seen that the way each person maintains balance or loses it constitutes their own habit. These habits have a decisive influence on the learning process of the Feldenkrais Method, as any change in the relationship with gravity must be integrated for the new balance to be maintained.
Knowledge of the mechanisms of balance and the way in which different perception channels cooperate with each other can lead to a better level of integration in any motor learning process.
